Activities

Recommended:

  • An evening out in Corfu Town - either drive or take a boat.  It is a wonderful Venetian styled city with lots of little streets and many interesting shops and tavernas.
  • Drive up to Mount Pantokrator.  Drive south to Ipsos and then take the road through Spartilas and follow up to the peak where there is a small monastry.  The views on a clear day are well worth the effort of the drive
  • Old Perithia - drive north from Kassiopi and turn left to Perithia.  Keep on through Perithia and Loutses and follow signs to Ano Perithia.  This is absolutely worth a visit.  It dates back to the 14th century and is now a protected heritage site.  In recent years the once deserted and derelict village has slowly been restored and now houses a couple of lovely tavernas too.  A wonderful destination for an early evening drive.
  • Water skiing in Kalami with Louise and Harris - www.corfuboats.gr.  Especially in peak season it is worth emailing Louise to book before you travel.  They taught all our children to water-ski and can be thoroughly recommended.
  • Riding on the Avlaki Penninsula - www.dimitriscorfu.gr
  • Walking - Corfu is fantastic in spring and autumn when the grass is once again green and all the spring flowers (even in autumn) appear!  There is a coastal path from Avlaki heading south down the coast or you can just walk up the hill and take the footpaths over the hillside.
  • Mountainbiking - very popular on Corfu now for the more energetic!  Try www.corfumountainbikes.com/.  Our son Robbie and his girlfriend, Katie,  brought their bikes on Easyjet one Easter and cycled from the airport to Villa Loukia.  Ask if you want any details!  They thought it was brilliant and a great way to experience the best of the island.

  • Waterparks - there is a local waterpark just before Acharavi, aproximately 15-20 minutes drive away called Hydropolis.  Alternatively there is Aqualand which is west of Corfu Town and about a one hour drive away.
  • Diving - we are very lucky that Kassiopi has a PADI dive school - http://www.corfu-divers.com/.  They offer a private service to our guests in the comfort of our own pool -  if you or your children want to learn to dive then they will offer you a free training session at the Villa Loukia pool with a team of instructors, so all you have to do is jump into the pool and they will give you a free scuba diving lesson. Suggest you contact Angelos at corfu-divers before you travel if you want to arrange a course.
  • Dingy sailing and wind-surfing at Avlaki.
  • Easter - this is just the most amazing experience ever!  Pot smashing in Corfu Town on Easter Saturday is the experience of a life time.  Just google it for yourself!  We cannot recommend Easter on the island more strongly!!
  • The rest goes without saying - swimming, snorkling, sunbathing, boating, eating, drinking, reading, chilling.......
