Villa Loukia goes Green!

Dear All

Firstly - welcome to the new Villa Loukia website.  I hope you like it and if you have stayed at the villa before then I would love your feedback!  A big thank-you to our eldest son, Robbie, for the hours of work he has put in to create it.

I can't believe that another season has drawn to an end.  Villa Loukia has once again been busy with more and more guests falling under her spell!  I get some lovely emails from guests when they return home but here is a snipit from one family this summer:

'I wanted to add my own thanks for creating a really special villa.  I completely fell in love with it.  I sometimes sat out on the balcony in my nightie listening to Scops owl and looking at the stars and I thought it was the most idyllic place imaginable.  You have been so clever with all you have done.  The layout is just ideal!.....

Everything you said about the villa was true, and the info in there was just so helpful re tavernas etc.  We LOVED it. '

We do put a huge amount of time and energy into the villa so it is really great that it is appreciated by guests. There are a number of new reviews at http://www.holiday-rentals.co.uk/p402541 so do take a look.

As always we are undertaking improvements through the winter.  We have just installed a solar water system and if awarded a permit then a PV system for the production of electricity will also be installed (anticipated March 2012).  Villa Loukia is going green and will be trying to do her bit for the environment!

We are also having the swimming pool fully tiled by adding to the beautiful hand-painted Sicilian tiles that are currently around the top of the pool.

Wi-fi will be available free of charge at the villa from next April.

Enquiries and bookings for 2012 are now coming in and I anticipate another busy summer in 2012.

Best wishes

Lucy

August 2010

Dear All

I think Villa Loukia has finally 'arrived'. It is exactly 3 year from when we first discovered the villa whilst on our summer holiday. Although the house itself was built it was still a building site and there was no pool, no terraces and no garden or bbq area. I think we can now at last say FINISHED!!

  • The newly extended and now pergola covered outdoor dining area works perfectly for leisurely evenings and really gives a feel of being your own personal taverna! It compliments the many different and versatile outdoor areas. I have honestly never stayed in a villa with so much choice in where to while away the hours!
  • The land beneath the villa has recently had its olive trees pruned to open up a much wider view across to Albania
  • The garden grows in maturity by the day and it is lovely to see Villa Loukia nestled into the colours of the beautiful Mediterranean plants. I now understand why so many villa owners do not plant many plants &#45 they need constant watering and attention in the sun and when it does rain the growth of the plants literally overnight can be immense! The difficulty is then getting the balance between allowing the gardener in to keep it all looking perfect and not disturbing the guests and their privacy. This has not been helped this year by the popularity of Villa Loukia which has resulted in back to back bookings all season.

It is satisfying to be welcoming back so many repeat bookings. North East Corfu is one of those places where once discovered many visitors return year after year &#45 initially bringing their children, making friends to holiday with each year, returning as couples and then eventually with their grandchildren! Corfu does appear for many to be a life-long love affair. It is therefore really pleasing that for many it is now not just a NE Corfu love affair but also a Villa Loukia love affair!

Villa Loukia has seen the celebration of a 1st birthday this year and a 40th wedding anniversary, proving it really does cater for all age groups! I hope before long I get someone on their honeymoon!!

Enjoy the rest of the summer and I look forward to welcoming many of you back in 2011.

Best wishes

Lucy
